Blown transformer causes power outage in parts of Krugersdorp

It seems that a blown-out transformer is the reason so many suburbs in Krugersdorp are currently without power.

A Facebook user posted about the power outage on the Krugersdorp Community Forum and Philna Booyse gave the following update:

“An Eskom transformer at the Condale Substation blew last week and a second transformer blew earlier today. The remaining transformer can not supply the whole of Krugersdorp including Chamdor.”

The post further reads that should this be a short-term issue, power should be restored later today.

“Should this be a major issue, it will take a couple of days. Eskom technicians are assessing the damage, resulting in loadshedding.”
