The South African Traditional and Modern Wushu Institute from Poortview recently showcased the benefits of Tai Ji and Kung Fu at the Namaste Holistic Fayre.
The Fayre was held earlier in October. This unique event brought together those interested in a natural, holistic way of life and healing. The retreat offered a calming and serene environment for both exhibitors and visitors on the day.
A variety of exhibitors provided services and products which included natural products, bio-feedback, homeopathic services, a body talk, Tai Ji and Kung Fu, Reiki and Kinesiology as well as gem jewellery and crystals.
Inspiring talks informed participants on topics such as Stepping out of Stress and Body Talk.
An electrifying demonstration was provided by athletes of the South African Traditional and Modern Wushu Institute in which a wide variety of empty-hand and weaponry forms were on display. The demonstration was concluded with an engaging three-person fighting sequence that showed the practical application and precision within martial movement.
This sport is practiced by all age groups and includes students from beginner level all the way to Protea athletes. A person can start training from as young as four years old and continue on a life-long journey. Disciplined Kung-Fu training provides a healthy and holistic approach to body and mind development along with the added benefit of self-defence.
