In September, several Wimpy stores joined forces to support a very special local school as part of their Biker Run Community Involvement initiative.

It was the franchisees of the Wimpy Magaliesburg, Wimpy Pecanwood, Wimpy Hartbeespoort and Wimpy Mooinooi restaurants that took it upon themselves to give back to the community of Krugersdorp.

According to Angela de Gouveia from Wimpy Mooinooi, they collectively decided to make Rant-en-Dal School a beneficiary of the initiative.

“The school shared a wish list that they would’ve liked us to fulfill. Through the project, we were able to collect stationery donations as well as R3 750 in cash,” Mark and Lucinda Steyn from Wimpy Pecanwood said.

“It is the only school in our region that caters for children living with Autism and Down’s Syndrome. We saw this initiative as a great opportunity to raise awareness about these disorders and to raise funds for the school.”

Even though this was their first regional initiative, they intend making the Bikers Run Community Involvement an annual project.

“Therefore, next year we will run with it again and hopefully it will be even bigger and better so that a greater impact is made at the school and on the children’s lives,” Thea and Gerrit Brand from Wimpy Magaliesburg concluded.
