The suspects took them to an open field in the area, where they tied the victims to a tree and left with the truck. The victims later managed to untie themselves and walked to the police station. Kagiso police launched an investigation and searched for the two suspects. The teenage boy was caught in possession of the stolen vehicle and arrested. They interviewed the suspect and he opened up to them, giving them useful information.

He led the police to where most of the property stolen from the truck was being kept, and to a total of three different addresses around Tshepisong West. A refrigerator, kitchen unit, wall unit, bedroom suite and other appliances were recovered. Police are searching for two more suspects who are on the run.

The suspect has meanwhile been transferred to a youth rehabilitation institution in Soweto.
