Silverfields Primary School was recently painted with all the colours of the rainbow when learners had the opportunity to leave their marks all across the school premises.
Learners from each of the 21 classrooms were assigned the task of using their creativity to paint 21 rubbish bins. This activity was initiated by the school’s assistants and was conducted under the leadership of Silverfield’s own Johan Fourie.
According to principal Eddie van Greuning, the initiative served to encourage learners to keep their environment clean and tidy.
“Every class is going to look after its own bin. It’s important for the learners to learn how to keep their school clean, and with a cleaner school, they’ll feel part of the ‘movement’,” he explained.
Eddie added that they might even make it a biennial event in order to make even the newest of learners part of their caring culture.
