Little Citizens march across the world

“Let’s do this!” This was the exact attitude expressed by six Little Citizen Academy (LCA) classes when each of them represented a different country as part of their annual fun run theme.

These classes from both the Wilropark and Featherbrooke branches were each assigned a country, among them America, Italy, China, the Netherlands, South Africa and Mauritius.

According to Yvette Maree, principal of LCA Featherbrooke, each class had to dress the part, decorate gazebos and sell foods which represented their assigned country on Saturday, 7 April at Laerskool Muldersdrif.

While Team America blew the crowd away with the amazing impact of their Captain America-themed bikers and decor, Team Mauritius team served to relax their onlookers by bringing the ocean to their doorstep.

On the other side of the world, Team China left the crowd in awe after marching around the field with a traditional parade dragon costume. North of Africa, Team Holland’s presentation was nothing short of exceptional as the crowd was welcomed with clogs, tulips and of course, scrumptious cheese.

Another European group, Team Paris, showcased their most treasured and talented entities – their chefs, which left the crowd hungry for more. Back at home, Team South Africa proudly represented the rainbow nation with bright colours, proteas and of course, some delicious boerewors.

After each class from the nursery school marched across the field, all the toddlers participated in a non-competitive run.

“We would like to thank the nursery school staff as well as each and every child, together with their parents, for all their time and effort.

They really went all out to make the day the huge success it was. We really had a wonderful time,” Yvette said.

She would also like to congratulate LCA Featherbrooke’s Team America for winning the prize for the best representation of the day.
