West Rand Cluster successfully arrests 343 suspects

The West Rand Cluster police successfully arrested 343 suspects in various parts of the West Rand in one week.

In Kagiso, the police arrested a suspect for allegedly pointing a firearm at his girlfriend after a domestic dispute.

In Krugersdorp, they arrested a suspect for murder after a body of a female was discovered in the streets of the CBD.

In Carletonville, a suspect was taken into custody for allegedly trying to hijack a female constable. The officer wounded the suspect when she told him to drop his firearm and fired shots in his direction. It was established that the suspect was using a toy gun.

In Bekkersdal, a female suspect was arrested for dealing in dagga. The police received a positive tip-off, and found the suspect busy packaging dagga.

Arrests were made for various serious crimes, including murder, possession of a hijacked motor vehicle, rape, pointing of firearms and robberies. More arrests were made for a range of minor offences such as contravention of the Liquor Act, traffic offences, undocumented persons and dealing in liquor without licence.

Each suspect will appear in a Magistrates’ Court within the Cluster.

These weekly success are made possible by dedicated members and other units in the Cluster with the assistance of other law enforcement agencies.

Our community members are applauded for a good working relationship with the police and for providing positive information that yielded results. The police will continue to ensure the safety of our community during the festive season. Safety awareness is also part of our festive operation, and citvilians will be educated about safe driving and how to keep safe while shopping at the malls.

The police stations in the Cluster are also part of the projects commemorating 16 Days of Activism for No Violence Against Women and Children, and World Aids Day.

Major General Anna Mateisi, commander of the West Rand Cluster applauded the members for their dedication and perseverance this past week. “Together we can do more,” she said.
