Police arrested a 23-year-old suspect on Thursday, 28 September after he was found to have fifty bags of dagga and an unlicensed firearm in his possession.

“Our sector police members were conducting their normal patrols in central Kagiso when they came across two suspicious-looking suspects,” said Captain Solomon Sibiya, spokesperson for the Kagiso Police.

“They stopped the suspects to search them, but one of them fled the scene.”

When police searched the remaining suspect they found five packets of dagga in his front pocket, and an unlicensed firearm in his sports bag.

They asked him to take them to his place of residence, where they found fifty bags, plus eight additional wrapped parcels of dagga.

The suspect was arrested and taken to the police station where a case was opened. He is expected to appear in the Kagiso Magistrates’ Court soon.
