Young Muldersdrift farmer killed in botched robbery

Another farmer has died during a botched house robbery on a plot in Rietfontein, Muldersdrift on Friday, 4 August.

Police are now looking for the two – or possibly more – suspects who shot and killed a 30-year-old man at about 5.45am that morning.

It’s believed the man was inside his house when he heard a noise outside and decided to investigate. As he walked out of his home, the suspects opened fired and shot him multiple times in his upper body.

A security officer who responded to a panic alarm also came under fire when he arrived on scene. He was fortunately not injured.

The suspects fled the scene before stealing anything.

Paramedics were called but declared the victim dead on scene.

The West Rand Cluster Police’s management expressed their extreme concern about the ever-increasing numbers of farm attacks in the area they serve.

Major General Anna Mateisi, cluster commander for the West Rand, deployed the Cluster’s Trio Task team to investigate the case and bring the heartless perpetrators to justice.

A case of murder and armed robbery has been opened, and police are appealing to anyone who might have information that can assist in the investigation of this matter to come forward.
