“Education is the most powerful weapon you can use to change the world.” – Nelson Mandela.

Alma Mater International School learner, Eugene Luyke is grabbing his future with both hands by being accepted to the University of Queensland in Australia at the age of only 17.

Eugene applied to this prestigious university approximately one month ago through the school’s Personal Growth Programme and was accepted to start on 5 September this year at the St Lucia Campus.

This ambitious Grade 11 learner completed his first international qualification, the International General Certificate in Secondary Education (IGCSE) at the end of Grade 10 and subsequently started with his A Levels, which are seen as a post-matric qualification, in the first term of this year.

He will now be starting his four-year degree in Mechanical and Aeronautical Engineering, whereafter he aims to complete his Master’s degree in Engineering.

Even though Alma Mater is very sad to say goodbye to Eugene at such an early stage, they would like to commend him on his acceptance and wish him the best for his studies at the university.
