The ANC West Rand Region is elated to announce the election of Patrick Naga Lipudi as the Executive Mayor of Mogale City Local Municipality during a council session held yesterday, 28 June.

According to a statement released by the ANC West Rand, the election of Lipudi will go a long way towards restoring Mogale City to normality, halt the deterioration of governance, and accelerate the delivery of basic services to the people.

“The ANC further wishes to congratulate Noluthando Mangole on her election during the same council sitting as Speaker of the Mogale City Local Municipality. We are confident that Mangole, who has immense local government experience spanning many years, including serving as Speaker, will ensure an activist people-centred model of council in Mogale City,” the statement reads.

It further states that the sustained neglect of the people of Mogale City by the multi-party coalition through consistently not performing their statutory responsibilities and placing the municipality in an untenable situation, including risking the municipality to be placed under administration remained a deep concern for the ANC and the people of Mogale City.

“The ANC West Rand always held the view that this failure of our people by the coalition was a deplorable and unacceptable dereliction of duty on their part.

“As we celebrate and congratulate Lipudi on his election to the position of Executive Mayor, we remain conscious that, together with local communities, much work needs to be done to place Mogale back on the path of development and delivery of services. Therefore this outcome now responds directly and positively to the long-cherished desire of the ANC to present a people friendly budget and the Integrated Development Plan to the community of Mogale City.”
