Girlfriend sets lover’s house on fire

A 28-year-old woman has been arrested after she allegedly burnt down her boyfriend’s shack on Tuesday, 30 May.

It’s believed he left his house at about 6.30am to go to work. At about 9am he received a call from his neighbour who informed him that his shack was on fire. He also told the man that his girlfriend was the one who torched it.

He rushed home and found that his shack had indeed burnt down. He then reported the matter to the Kagiso Police. They searched for the girlfriend and eventually found her.

She was arrested and later detained at Kagiso Police Station where a case docket of arson was opened against her.

The motive for setting fire to the shack is unknown at present.

She appeared briefly in court and was remanded in custody for a bail application.
