The previous day, the victim alleged, she was accompanying a friend to a spaza shop. She only agreed to walk with him because she considered him to be her best friend. The suspect later forced her into his shack where he became aggressive and forced her to have sex with him. He only allowed her to leave the next day because she convinced him that she would return because she had fallen in love with him.

Instead she went to the Kagiso Police Station to open a case of rape against him.

While she was in a private cubicle at the station, the suspect also entered and asked the staff in the client service centre to lay charges against a woman for assault. The police officer at the front desk became suspicious when he claimed that he was assaulted because he was accused of rape.

The officer took the suspect to the room where the victim was opening a case and she immediately identified him as her alleged rapist.

The suspect was arrested and detained at Kagiso Police Station. He was charged with rape and appeared in the Kagiso Magistrates’ Court. He was remanded in custody for a formal bail application.
