It’s not just karate, it’s their life.

The Krugersdorp Dojo (training hall) Club believes in hard work, and their hard work recently paid off recently, when they returned from a competition as victors.

The SAJKA (Karate Association) Gauteng Provincial Tournament took place at the Ellis Park Indoor Events Arena with 1 300 students from different karate clubs in Gauteng participating.

These students will be representing the club at the South African TKA Tournament in May this year.

The Krugersdorp club entered 18 students in the event that took place over two days. The students achieved great success as 16 returned with Gauteng Provincial colours.

In total, the club won 19 medals,of which 13 were gold, three silver and three bronze.

“We love the sport so much and we cannot wait for our next big event,” said Zander Cilliers.

These students are currently training hard for the next event, which takes place soon. They will be participating in the South African TKA Tournament on 19 and 20 May, again at the Ellis Park Indoor Events Arena.

The students that achieve the four best scores will qualify to represent South Africa at the Shotocup World Championship, which will take place in Ireland in August.

A lot of hard training has been put into this event and their instructor, Leon van Niekerk, wishes them all the luck for the future.
