Unsuspecting shoppers were surprised by a carnival-like dance routine by Laerskool Kenmare’s choir and dance learners in three local malls on Saturday, 11 March.

First Key West Shopping Centre shoppers had their shopping interrupted at 10am when the group of about 60 learners started their routine in front of Debonairs Pizza.

A large group of shoppers surrounded the dancers from the first beat. Some whipped their phones out to record the moment and others just enjoyed the young talent present before them.

Then the dancers packed up their gear hastily and moved to Cradlestone Mall. At noon exactly they presented their routine in the centre court (next to Mugg & Bean) in front of spectators standing on all three of the mall’s levels, who ensured that many videos of their spectacular performance were taken. Filmed from above, the videos showed how in sync the learners moved and their willingness to work together.

Their last performance was at Clearwater Mall, where they showed their dedication to their routine as they acted it out for the third time in front of hundreds of viewers. The open roof of the centre court ensured that the dancers had ample lighting and a delightful atmosphere.
