Dimwitted robbers caught in the act

On Tuesday, 27 December at about 11pm two men allegedly failed in their attempt to rob a business in Factoria.

It is alleged the two males, one carrying a knife and the other a firearm, approached a security guard at the business. The armed suspect allegedly pointed the firearm at the guard and instructed him to show him the business’ copper cables. The guard did not know where the cables were and the robbers stopped looking for it.

They then tried to steal the trucks on the premises, but were unable to start them. One of the suspects then left the scene. Meanwhile, police officers who where patrolling the area noticed a suspicious vehicle parked at a garage. They also noticed a suspicious male in the vehicle – the third suspect in the attempted robbery. The police stopped to inquire the reason for the male stopping at the garage. He allegedly got scared and told the police that he was waiting for his accomplices who were trying to rob the business. Police arrested the suspect.

They later arrested the other suspect who left the scene after trying to steal the trucks. The suspects – one aged 23 and the other 33 – have been detained for business robbery. The third suspect, the one with the firearm, escaped by running away. Brigadier Baloyi, Krugersdorp Police station commander, applauded police members for their swift response and arresting these suspects. The Krugersdorp Police Trio Task team is in the process of tracing the suspect who escaped.
