A motorcyclist was found nearly 10 metres from his wrecked motorcycle following an accident on Viljoen Street earlier this morning (12 August).
A motorist said she saw a cloud of dust when she pulled over on the side of the road where the 29-year-old man was lying. She stopped her vehicle on the side of the road in order to protect the injured man from oncoming traffic.
“The motorcyclist sustained serious injuries after he collided with a vehicle at about 7.20am,” said Netcare 911’s media liaison officer, Athlenda Mathe.
A passer-by said the driver of a grey Opel attempted to turn into Viljoen Street when she collided with the motorcyclist who was traveling towards Krugersdorp West.
Traffic along Viljoen and First Streets was heavily backed up as motorists were redirected around the Opel.
It is believed the motorcyclist sustained serious injuries to his leg and hand.
“The man was stabilised on the scene and transported to a nearby hospital after being put on advanced life support.”
